Our Team

Pat Smith, CPA


Pat received his accounting degree from Ohio University. He became a Certified Public Accountant as well as a General Securities Representative. He was the vice President of Finance and Chief Finance Officer of Acute Care Medical Surgery Hospital prior to acquiring FAAS.

Pat is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a fellow of the American Board of Forensic Accounting and is a court-approved appraiser of descendant's estates in Athens County, Ohio. He uses his expertise on financial planning and consulting with clients as well as preparing personal, partnership, and corporate tax returns. He coaches CEO & CFO, Risk Managers, and Human Resource Managers and Board Members.

Terry Kennedy, CPA


Terry is the lead technical partner of the Maryland office and runs the accounting division of FAAS, Inc. She graduated Cum Laude from Wake Forest University in North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Terry started her business career working in the banking sector with OBA Federal Savings and Loan Association which is the nation's oldest savings & loan. She was responsible for daily reconciliations of ally banking transactions and for troubleshooting any reconciliations or executive queries. She received her MBA in finance from the University of Maryland where she interned with Mobil Oil Corporation within their tax accounting audit division.

Terry has also been an entrepreneur by founding two separate businesses and eventually selling them. The first venture was an import-export business where goods were brought in predominantly from Italy. The second was an Italian restaurant that specialized in pizza and other creations by her chef partner. Terry's involvement in both of these entities ended, to afford her the opportunity to migrate to Athens, Ohio in 2002. This was also immediately after passing her CPA exam. In 2003, Terry joined FAAS, Inc.

Kevin Kennedy, PhD


Kevin received both a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on business education from the University of Alberta. His graduate studies include a Master of International Management from Thunderbird in international finance and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in international strategic management.

Kevin has two years of audit experience with Touche Ross and Deloitte & Touche, and another three years accounting experience with financial accounting and taxation for small and medium enterprises with a regional accounting firm prior to joining FAAS, Inc. as a partner.. He has also worked briefly for American Express within their domestic credit card division.

Kevin has received a teaching award at Texas Tech University, and been on faculty of both Ohio University and Towson University. Some other highlights of Kevin’s career are:

  • Established the entrepreneurship track at Towson University,
  • Experience teaching undergraduate, graduate, executive and corporate MBA students.
  • Extensive experience in financial management, project management, and program planning.
  • Numerous publications within the international business, entrepreneurship and strategic management fields
  • Extensive corporate experience – including international academic presentations, consultancy and work experience in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, and the United States of America.

Alex Couladis, CPA

Certified Public Accountant

Alex completed his degree in finance at Marietta College. He then joined the public accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company of Columbus, Ohio where he remained until 1979. For two years Alex worked for the multi-national AccuRay Corporation as the head of their Internal Audit Department.

In 1981 Alex returned to Athens, Ohio and became the sole owner of Alex Couladis, CPA. He merged his firm with Financial Accounting and Advisory Services in the summer of 2000.

Jessica Allen

Director of Payroll Division

Jessica joined the firm in July of 2014 in our payroll division. She has obtained an Associate’s Degree in accounting from Hocking College. She is a certified payroll professional by the American Payroll Association. Jessica is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Business and Accounting at Franklin University. She has fifteen years of bookkeeping experience with a focus on accounts receivable and payable and all aspects of payroll.

Jessica takes great pride in exceptional customer service with proven client satisfaction through succinctly identifying problems and quickly resolving the issues. She is an Ohio licensed Notary. Her duties here at FAAS include oversight of the entire payroll division, which includes payroll processing, payroll taxes, and all other payroll related matters. Jessica takes great pride that our firm offers the strongest locally prepared payroll services in Athens County! Jessica was raised in Athens and still resides in the area with her husband Jason.

Karen Smith

Office Manager

Karen joined the firm in 1996. She is the office manager at the Athens office of FAAS, Inc. In this position she shares her strong leadership skills. She oversees the firm's internal accounting, including billing and client management. She enjoys customer service, which includes supervising the front desk reception, monitoring work product flow and deadlines, and oversight of correspondence with clients.

Karen also helps out with bank reconciliations, payroll, QuickBooks and other bookkeeping related tasks when needed. Prior to working at FAAS, Inc., Karen primarlily worked in the printing industry. She spent seven years helping clients design, procure or produce printed materials for their corporate entities. Karen is a graduate of Hocking College with an associate degree in computer science.

Michelle McGee-Moore


Michelle began her career in the business sector directly out of High School. She worked at Defense Supply Center Columbus for eight years, starting as a Clerk Typist and rising to the position of Procurement Assistant. She moved to California and worked in the Silicon Valley at a nationwide dot com company for three years as the Administrative Assistant to the VP of Sales and Marketing. Back in Ohio, she began working at FAAS in February of 2003.

Michelle is an excellent multi-tasker and in any given day she might be answering client questions, processing tax returns and payroll taxes, completing accounts payable and accounts receivable for clients, or working on a computer tech. problem. Whatever the task, Michelle helps us get things done correctly and on time!

Ana Graff

Payroll processor

Ana relocated from Rapid City, SD and joined our firm in June of 2019. She has over twenty years of experience in accounts payable and receivable. She will primarily assist Jessica in the payroll division.

Nancy Thomas


Nancy interrupts her retirement to come in and help us during tax season. She answers calls, interacts with clients, and processes paperwork. She is a great asset to our firm.
